The gang is back for an action-packed summer extravaganza as Troy, Gabriella and the rest of the Wildcats finish junior year and blast onto the summer scene in Disney’s High School Musical 2 JR!

Rehearsals: Mon-Fri July 13-17 and 20-24, 9:00am-4:00pm
Performances: Friday, July 24th 8pm, Saturday, July 25th 2pm and 7pm, Sunday, July 26th 2pm.
Cast members must be available for ALL performances to be cast in this production.
At the Lava Springs Country Club, popular girl, Sharpay, reigns supreme while the Wildcats get to work — literally! Featuring every ounce of the light-hearted fun that made High School Musical a household name, this buoyant sequel follows our East High favorites as they face the realities of the adult world and begin to grow up. Friendships are tested, summer romances go haywire and the meaning of success is redefined.
Principal Cast:
All registered students will be cast in this production. Prior theatre experience is not required! Individual auditions for new and returning students will be held, by appointment, on June 30, July 2, July 7. Group auditions will be held July 9th from 5:00-8:30pm. Students who are unable to attend in-person auditions will be asked to submit a video audition. No matter what role they play in this production, all students will have a great time in this intense, jam-packed, two-week musical theatre camp experience! Sign up early, as space is limited!
Rehearsal Conflicts:
Cast members must submit any conflicts with the rehearsal schedule. In this condensed rehearsal format, attendance is critical for a successful theatre experience. Rehearsal conflicts must be submitted via the Conflicts Survey Form no later than July 8th. Rehearsal conflicts will not be accepted for Wed-Fri, July 22, 23, 24. Students must also be available for all performances. Students will NOT be included in the cast list if they have not responded to the rehearsal conflicts survey.
Additional absences not submitted via the Conflicts Survey BEFORE CASTING will be considered unexcused. If a cast member has any unexcused absences, they jeopardize their participation in a scene, their role in the cast, or their participation in the production. Illness and/or family emergencies are considered excused if advance notice is provided. However, an excessive number of excused absences (may include a prolonged illness) may also affect a cast member's role or level of participation in the production, at the sole discretion of the artistic director.
Parent Volunteer Hours:
Families are required to volunteer at least 8 hours per cast member for this production or to buy out the required volunteer hours at $20 per hour. Volunteer opportunities include helping make costumes, set painting, set building, costume or prop shopping, providing supervision at dress rehearsals and performances, ushering at performances, etc.
Show tickets: $18 adult $9 students and seniors available online beginning Sunday, July 12th.
Audition Information: Students may sign up for their Individual audition appointments after they have registered for the production. A Google Doc with all of the audition information, including a link to sign up for individual auditions and group auditions will be included in the registration confirmation email.
Payment plans are available for High School Musical 2 JR tuition during checkout. Tuition for High School Musical JR must be paid in full by Monday, June 29, 2025.

Answer: This depends on a few things.
1. Is this your first UCYT production? If yes, you are encouraged but not required to prepare an individual audition. However, you must attend the group audition.
2. Have you been in the principal cast of a UCYT production before? If so, you are required to prepare an individual audition AND attend the group auditions
3. Would you like to be considered for a specific role? If so, you are required to prepare an individual audition and attend group auditions. This requirement is the same whether this is your first UCYT production or you have been in the principal cast of a previous production at UCYT.

Character Breakdown
Character Breakdown: Troy Bolton
Troy Bolton is the most popular kid at East High, the star of the basketball team and Gabriella's boyfriend. Troy is in a tough place this summer - he needs to make as much money as possible in order to afford college. When a scholarship opportunity arises, he does everything he can to make it happen.
Character Breakdown: Chad Danforth
Chad Danforth is a jock and Troy's best friend. He and Taylor share a special bond, but he is good friends with all the Wildcats. As Troy gets wrapped up in his scholarship world, Chad becomes concerned about the person Troy is becoming.
Character Breakdown: Jack Scott
Jack Scott is the school announcer who is confident and suave behind the microphone, but not so sure of himself when he isn't. He has a great friendship with Kelsi and they bring out the best in each other.
Character Breakdown: Ryan Evans
Ryan Evans is Sharpay's barely younger twin and a true star. He loves singing and dancing, and is learning to be his own person outside of Sharpay's shadow. He wants what's best for his sister but is having a hard time dealing with her ego. Everything Ryan does is executed to the extreme and usually with enthusiasm.
Character Breakdown: Zeke Baylor
Zeke Baylor is a basketball player and good friend of Troy and Chad. His love of baking is matched only by his crush on Sharpay.
Character Breakdown: Gabriella Montez
Gabriella Montez is an intelligent, charming girl who is loved by everyone except Sharpay. She is dating Troy and can't wait to spend the summer with him at Lava Springs. Gabriella is a strong, loyal character who sticks up for her beliefs.
Character Breakdown: Taylor Mckessie
Taylor McKessie is Gabriella's best friend who has started hanging out with Chad more often. She is organized and intelligent and doesn't like to see people take advantage of her friends, namely Gabriella.
Character Breakdown: Sharpay Evans
Sharpay Evans is the egocentric daughter of the Lava Springs owner and barely older twin sister of Ryan. She does everything she can to get what she wants, particularly Troy Bolton.
Character Breakdown: Martha Cox
Martha Cox is the fun-loving, big-personality girl of the group. She loves to dance, specifically hip-hop.
Character Breakdown: Kelsi Nielsen
Kelsi Nielsen is an up-and-coming theatre composer who struggles with how to further her career.
Character Breakdown: Sharpettes
Blossom, Violet and Peaches are the Sharpettes, Sharpay's debutante gal pals. They are bubbly, excitable and will back Sharpay up in all her endeavors.
Character Breakdown: Fulton
Fulton is the efficient club manager of Lava Springs. When it comes to the Wildcats, he doesn't have difficulty being in charge, but Sharpay is a different story. He is overly concerned with pleasing the daughter of the country club's owner. It isn't until Sharpay pushes him too far that Fulton is able to stand up to her.
Character Breakdown: Ensemble
The Ensemble makes up the other characters who populate Lava Springs Country Club. Some have small featured roles: pool boys, hairdressers, tailors, dermatologists. Other members of the ensemble work primarily as specific groups: the Wildcats, Lava Springs employees, Waiters, etc.
